Snorkeling Trip at Tioman Island
I have been wanting to go on a snorkeling trip for a long time, but never really had the chance. Too few leave days at work, already spent too much money on other trips, other commitments etc.
Over the labour day long weekend in Singapore (my company had both 30th Apr and 1st May as holiday), Clint and I finally decided it is time to go for our long-awaited snorkeling trip in Pulau Tioman (Tioman island), off the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia.
We took a bus from Singapore to Mersing Ferry Terminal, which was about 4 hrs long, and from Mersing we took a 3-hr ride on fast ferry to Pulau Tioman . The journey felt kinda draggy, but for the amount of money we paid (esp. compared to flying in) I will not complain too much.
Including traveling time, Clint and I were on the trip for a total of 4 days, 3 nights. It was very enjoyable, very relaxing, especially because it has been such a long time since we went on a vacation, that is just the two of us. We went on a snorkeling tour during our second day, and were taken to 6 different snorkel spots around the island by a speed boat. We started out at 9.30am and finished snorkeling around 3.30pm, which was sufficient to get us feeling tired (but happy and satisfied of course) and to get Clint all sunburnt.
Due to lack of room availability since it was a long weekend for a lot of people, I had to book at two different resorts. We spent the first night at Berjaya Beach, the second and third night at Paya Beach. Having to move is a little troublesome, but I do like the fact that we get to see different things, sleep on different beds etc.
Since I can't seem to upload photos to my blog no matter which computer I use or which internet browser I use, I'm afraid you'll have to go to http://joannelyh.myphotoalbum.com for the complete set of photos we took. I guarantee it will not be a disappointment for you! :p
